Coming from a minority background, as a first-generation immigrant to the UK and now USA, I have first-hand experience of the various faces of inequality in science and society.
My philosophy in teaching, mentoring and administration is the same as my motivation in research: I believe that every person has the right to a healthy and happy life. Despite personal challenges, this tenet has shaped my efforts, and I have over a decade-long track record of community building-related outreach that I will build on.
